Practice Description:

I help people learn to empower themselves. I help them realize and tap into their inner strengths which are often eclipsed by the problems. Many folks I see want to develop a better self-concept and free themselves from paralyzing doubts and uncertainties. Others feel dissatisfied in intimate relationships, stymied by anxiety and depression, or blocked from pursuing goals and dreams by self-doubt.

We have a partnership which enables them to confront their issues and to see opportunities for change, resolution, and growth. I challenge my clients to be open to the possibility that what they see as insurmountable obstacles are really opportunities for change and growth. I encourage clients to consider the meaning life holds for them as we embark on the journey to be their "truest, best selves."

My specialties include working with addictions (both with the addict and the family). I have worked both in inpatient substance abuse programs and outpatient programs. I have worked for over fifteen years both in treatment facilities and in private practice with the chemically dependent population and their families.

Other specialties include grief and loss, family counseling, couple's counseling, anxiety disorders, trauma and post traumatic stress disorder, and spirituality.

I often work with the families of clients as every person in a family is affected if one member is having problems. It is often necessary to change patterns of interaction and "boundaries" within the family in order to achieve therapeutic and long-term change.
